The family stayed in a motel for over a year before his father found a job. As a result of his family’s problems, Depp began smoking, experimenting with drugs, and self-harming at the age of 12. Depp’s parents divorced in 1978 when he was 15 years old. As the youngest of four children, Depp was responsible for going to his father’s office and collecting the weekly child support payments. Due to the his parent’s split,  Depp’s connection with his father was strained. Depp dropped out of high school at the age of 16 and joined the Kids, a garage band.  About ’21 Jump Street’ and his relationship with Lori Allison:

When Depp was 20 years old, he married Lori Allison, who was a 25-year-old makeup artist. In the same year, they moved to Los Angeles with Depp’s band in the hopes of making it huge.
