Depp’s father worked as a civil engineer, and his mother worked as a waitress and stayed at home. Depp, the youngest of four children, grew up to be a loner who admitted to being odd.Due to his father’s business, Depp and his family moved about a lot, and ultimately they settled in Miramar, Florida, when Johnny was seven years old. The family stayed in a motel for over a year before his father found a job. As a result of his family’s problems, Depp began smoking, experimenting with drugs, and self-harming at the age of 12. Depp’s parents divorced in 1978 when he was 15 years old. As the youngest of four children, Depp was responsible for going to his father’s office and collecting the weekly child support payments.
